God bless Alan Hannah!!

March 25, 2008

This is a bookshop in Rathmines but instead of using shelves and orgainisation like other book shops they just put the books all over the floor and stuff in no particular order.

This made it really easy for me to put all Twentymajors books under a pile of Gareth O’Callaghan books where nobody will ever see them!!

Oh

And I still didn’t get any reply from the publishers to my email. Typical … they just ignore it and hope it will go away.

Boo to the Sunday business post

March 24, 2008

Yesterday’s Sundya business post had an interview with Twentymajor in which at the end they put a plug for his terrible book. The interview was done by someone called Nadine O’Regan … she’s obviously not a Damien Rice fan or she wouldn’t have wasted her time with this stupid man.

I found that she has a blog herself so as well as not buying Twentymajors book you shouldn’t visit her blog or listen to her show on the radio. It’s on Phantom radio though and I don’t listen to that … 2FM all the way for me! Phantom is too alternative and the music is too loud. As you can guess I prefer my guitars more acoustic and not so electic!

Colin Coyle is my hero

March 23, 2008

I just read the Sunday Times this morning and theres an article about Twentymajors book by a journlist called Colin Coyle. He talks about how few copies the book has sold … and I’m delighted!

I hope this is just the start and that Twentymajor pays for the terrible things he said about Damien Rice. Maybe his publishers will cancel his contract!! That would be funny.

Happy Easter to everyone expcet Twentymajor

Our first email

March 19, 2008

We got the first email here to agree with is. Its from Sharon in Cork.

Hi,

I did not read the book by Twenty Major but I was going to buy it this weekend. I didn’t think there would be anything that bad but after I read your blog I’m going to buy something else to read instead. Do you have any recommendations?!!

Thanks for the site and good luck!

Sharon

No sharon thank you for teh email and if I was you I’d buy a book by Marian Keyes who’s books are always funny and never offensive … unlike some people we could mention!

If you want to email us its burnthatbook@gmail.com

No updates!

March 18, 2008

I didn’t get a reply from the publishers but thats what I expected … just one voice complaining. Today was in town and I saw the book in Hughes bookshop and there was a pile on a table but I covered it up with some copies of Pauline Mcglynns new book which I’m sure is much better for people to read anyway!

My letter to the publishers

March 17, 2008

I have written a letter to the publishers of the Order ofthe Phoenix Park to tell them exactly what I think of the book. Here is what I wrote.

Dear Hatchette books Ireland,

I recently bought one of your book. The order of the Phoenix Park by the Twentymajor who is a blogger. I was enjoying the book ad was looking forward to the participation of Damien Rice as he is mentioned on the back of the book and he is one of my favourite singers. I have all his albums and many other recordings.

However I was shocked to discover that he has been protrayed as a figure of ridicule in this so called book and that the depiction of him was not at all positive. How is this possible?! I realise that it is a work of fiction and supposedly a comedy but this is outrageous. Anyone who has listened to his music knows he is not at all like the author Twentymajor makes him out to be.

He would never be involved in anything like is suggested in the book … and I find it very offensive that you would choose to publish this kind of thing.

I demand that you make an apology to Damien Rice fans for publishing this book. You would put up with it if somebody was to write such bad things about you or one of your authors so why should we have to put up with his terrible character assasination of somebody we like and respect?!

I am going to make sure that as many fans of Damien Rice as possible know about this book and will do my best to make sure that none of them make the same mistake as I did and spend good money on it. I would ask for a refund but I know what publishers are like … greedy bastards!

I hope to hear from you and I will wait for your apology which should be made in public. I am disgusted!!

#1 Damien Rice fan

Burn the website too!

March 15, 2008

I just went to the Twentymajors site and searched for Damien Rice and … my God … this man has serious isusses. Theres one post about how he wants to wrap Damien in cling film then set fire to him so he can be badly burnt.

What sort of a sick mind is this?!!

Burn this book!!

March 14, 2008

Oh my god! I really can’t believe this you know … I was in town last week doing some book shopping and I bought The order of the Phoenix Park by the Twentymajor an Irish blogger.

The back of it sounded really funny and when I saw that Damien Rice was featured in the book I had to buy it … I love Damien and his music. But I was shocked when I started reading It’s like this guy really hates Damien. How can you hate him? His songs are so personal and moving you would have to be an idiot not to appreciate them!!

But this Twentymajor guy really makes him out to be a hate figure and somebody really evil and anyone who has listened to the music knows this is a man whose heart is soft and pure … he couldn’t do harm to anyone.

I think this book is awful to Damien and I want to let everyone know that they shouldn’t buy it! Not just Damien Rice fans either. Nobody should buy it and everybody should know you can’t say things like that about nice people. How would he like it if somebody said nasty things about him?!!!

If you’re a Damien Rice fan and you have a comment to make about this terrible book then you can email burnthatbook@gmail.com and I’ll publish them on this blog!!
